Welcome Home

Welcome to my second attempt at blogging! To my dear friends who have requested this blog- keep reminding me that I have started it (please!) Peter and I flew up to Ft. Lauderdale on the 26th, and met up with my dog Delaney (she had to fly a day ahead of us). From there we started the 12 hour drive to our new home in Mississippi. The trip took longer than we had planned, because we returned from our honeymoon with an intestinal bug that has stayed with us for a bit.
We pulled into our driveway on the 27th just as the sun was setting. I had so many mixed emotions going though my heart about leaving PR and moving to a new place, the excitement of being newly married, etc. but when I climbed out of the car and saw the sky above the house, all the emotions seemed to fade. To me, it was our Heavenly Father's own "Welcome to your new home," sign painted across the sky. I love His reminders that He is with us.
The next hour was busy with moving suitcases, testing the backyard to see if Delaney could escape, and receiving gifts from new friends and neighbors. At the end of it, I was the owner of a pink fishing pole, tasting homemade fig preserves, and storing a bottle of champagne for a day when we were not sick. There was even letters in the mailbox from friends in PR that I had just left the day before!
We ended the evening by watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and a dvd of our wedding ceremony. It still hasn't quite hit me that this is my life now. Peter is sure that I'll wake up one morning with a look of terror when I finally realize what's going on, but for now it is going pretty well. : )
